Setting up Dimension Structures

PATH: Finance > General Ledger > Administration > Chart of Accounts Setup > Dimension Structures

The Dimension Structure provides the sequencing logic and processing parameters for State and District financial operations. In Campus, an account's code structure is created by aggregating dimensions into a Dimension Structure.

The federal government recommends the following dimension structure. This structure is only a recommendation. Each state may determine a unique dimension structure.

FUND --  PROGRAM – OBJECT - PROJECT - INSTRUCTION - UNIT - SUBJECT - JOB CLASS
XX           XXX              XXX              XXX               XXX            XXX         XXX            XXX

This Dimension Structure is used in all processing, transaction posting, and reporting in the Campus Finance system. You must create unique Dimension Structures for the Balance Sheet, Expenditure and Revenue dimension definitions. When setting up the Dimension Structures, the Expenditure and Revenue Structures must added before the Balance Sheet Structure. In most cases, the Fund dimension is the first dimension of the structure. The Fund dimension represents the first official component in the UCOA structure.

You cannot edit Dimension Structures after you have created General Ledger Account Numbers or added Code Groups.

Dimensions that exist in the Balance Sheet structure cannot be deleted from the Revenue and Expense structures.
