View the Grade and Score Summary for a Section (Section Summary Report)

PATH: Campus Instruction > Reports > Section Summary

The Section Summary Report displays student scores and any score flags for the selected assignments. This report generates in two parts. A separate page reports for each Task and Standard, which also includes a list of assignments. The final page(s) of the report includes a list of all Tasks and Standards selected and each student's posted Percent and Final Grade (based on the Grading Task Grid options selected).

Report Logic

Information included on the Section Summary reports from your Grade Book.

Each Task or Standard aligned to the section selected in the Campus toolbar reports on its own page. Consider what options to select and how many assignments to include in the report, as these decisions affect the layout and appearance of the report.

Descriptions

Display Details

These options allow the user to select how students will be identified in the report.

Show Student Names

Includes student names in the report.

Show Student Numbers

Includes student numbers and not names in the report. This style of report could be posted as the lack of names improves privacy.

Page Orientation

These options determine how the report will appear on the page.

Portrait

Generates the report in portrait format. This style of report can be useful when reporting on a large number of students.

Landscape

Generates the report in landscape format. This style of report can be useful for sections with many assignments.

Assignment Properties

 

Show Assignment Description

Causes the assignment Description to be included in the report.

Student Assignment Grid

These options will determine what student score information will appear in the columns in the student grid.

Show Points Possible

Displays the total points possible for each student following the assignment scores.

Show Earned Points

Displays total points earned for each student following the assignment scores.

Show Total Points Possible

Displays the Points Possible as a row above the student list, which includes the total points possible for each assignment.

Show Percent

Displays the total Percent earned by each student.

Show In-Progress Grade

Displays the In-Progress grade earned by each student. 

Show Assignment Average

Displays an additional row at the bottom of the student grid listing the average points earned for each assignment.

Shade Alternate Rows

Shades alternate rows of the student grid in the report to make the report easier to read.

Grading Task Grid

These options allow the user to select which grade totals to display, both for the individual Task/Standard report pages and the final posted grade summary. Additional options appear for showing the class average and row shading.

Show Percent and Final Grade

Displays both the percentage earned and the final posted grade.

Show Percent Only

Displays the percentage earned.

Show Final Grade Only

Displays the final posted grade only.

Show Class Average

Displays the Class Average as a percentage following the student list. This option cannot be selected if only the Final Grade is shown.

Shade Alternate Rows

Shades alternate rows of the Task/Standard grid in the report to make the report easier to read.

Assignment Sort Preference

These options control how the assignments listed for each Task and Standard are sorted.

Category, Assignment

Groups assignments by category and then sort assignments within each category by Due Date.

Assignment Seq

Sorts assignments by the Sequence number entered.

Assignment End/Due Date

Sorts assignments by the End/Due Date entered.

Student Sort Preferences

Student data sorts based on the option selected, regardless of whether student name or student number is selected to display on the report.

Student Names

Sorts the student grid alphabetically by student name (last name, first name).

Student Numbers

Sorts the student grid numerically by student number. Student numbers are created when a person in Campus is given an enrollment.

Student Person ID

Sorts the student grid numerically by Person ID. Person IDs are created when a person is added to Campus.

Random

Sorts the student grid randomly.

Student and Assignment Selection

Mark the checkbox next to a student's name to include that student in the report. All active students are marked by default. Use the Toggle Students option to mass mark or unmark all students. Inactive students display in red text.

Mark the checkbox next to a Task and Standard, Category, or Assignment to include students' scores for that item in the report. Use the Select All option to mass mark or unmark all items. Marking a Task, Standard, or Category automatically marks all assignments within it, but individual assignments can be marked or unmarked as desired. All items are selected by default.

Note that Category Weights display in the assignments list if they have been entered for your Categories. However, Category Weights only display in the report if "Weight Categories" has been marked in the Grade Calculation Options.

Generating the Section Summary Report

  1. Select Section Summary from the Report dropdown list. 
  2. Select the Term and Section for which you want to view assignments.
  3. Select the appropriate Display Details to determine what student identification information to display.
  4. Select the appropriate Page Orientation option to determine the layout of the report.
  5. Mark the Assignment Properties to indicate if the assignment Description should report.
  6. Mark the Student Assignment Grid to determine which columns describing student scores should be included.
  7. Select the Grading Task Grid options to indicate which score totals to display.
  8. Select the desired Assignment Sort Preference to indicate how assignments should be sorted.
  9. Select the desired Student Sort Preference to indicate how students will be sorted.
  10. Review the Selected Students and modify if necessary.
  11. Review the Selected Grading Tasks, Standards and Assignments and modify if necessary.
  12. Click either Generate Report button to view the report in PDF format.

The report generates with a page for each Task and Standard selected. First, categories and assignments in that task or standard are listed. Then, the student grid lists all selected students and their scores earned.

The final page(s) of the report includes a list of all Tasks and Standards selected and each student's Percent and Final Grade where grades have been posted. Grades are posted using the Grade Book or Grading By Task or Student .
